Conquering Bad Habits

Most of your behavior is determined by your habits. Everything you are or that you will ever accomplish will be determined by the quality of the habits that your form. All your successes and failures are the result of habits you have formed. You can control your destiny and your way of life to the extent to which you can control your habits.

Successful people develop the habit of believing that they are capable of success in everything they do. Unsuccessful people develop the habit of thinking that they are not capable of succeeding in anything or are less capable than others. It is always the person's habit pattern that determines everything he or she acheives or fails to achieve.

The reason our habits are so important for success is that after a time they become an unconscious way of doing things. They are almost instinctive reactions. If we form the habit of doing the right thing without thinking about it, we free our mind of having to ponder what course of action to take, and we can then focus on getting results.

The two major negative habit patterns are the fear of failure and the fear of criticism. The fear of failure causes you to believe the you do not have the ability to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself. The fear of rejection and criticism causes you to be hypersensitive to the opinions of others and allows them to set your personal agenda by your subconscious habit of not wanting them to disapprove of you in some way.

Good habits which lead to success can be learned and acquired. Bad habits can be broken and replaced by good ones at will, by anyone. But before they become habits, you must practice them over and over. The only way you learn anything is through repetition. If you repeat an idea often enough it becomes yours. And, when you repeat it aloud you then focus your visual and auditory senses on learning, and then the information becomes fixed in your subconscious mind.

Put yourself on the success track by forcing yourself to concentrate on your goals. You can take complete control over the shaping of your character, personality, and everything that happens to you in the future, by making the decision to define and develop habits that will lead you to great success. And, when you develop the same habits possessed by other successful people, you will enjoy their success as well. Your future will become unlimited.
